Streaks and Thanks
These past few weeks, we have made many improvements to Good Vibes. We have been working on methods to increase the circulation of Good Vibes in the app. Currently, users only generate one Good Vibe a day as soon as they log their mood. Many users are not sharing their Good Vibes like we expected, so very few users receive Good Vibes from other users. We need an improved method of increasing the volume of Good Vibes out in the world.

Firebase Snapshots
This week I added notifications for receiving a good vibe to Good Vibes and added a badge that is displayed on the app icon that indicated the number of received and unread Good Vibes. To add both of these features, I modified the snapshot that queries the data from the Firestore database.

Good Vibes First Beta Release
This week and last week, we released the first beta version of Good Vibes to students in Dr. Goadrich’s TEC class. We were able to get notifications, analytics, and a number of smaller changes implemented for this beta release. The days leading up to the release on Friday October 1 were very busy with a lot of adjustments being made to the app. Releasing a product to testers is an exciting experience, and I am looking forward to all of the feedback that we receive.

Good Vibes Development and Deployment
For the past few weeks, the majority of my time has been dedicated to the development and beta deployment of Disco Tray Studio’s mobile application Good Vibes. The functionality that I was tasked with to add to the app is notifications. Users should receive a notification whenever they update their mood for the first time of the day, and users should receive a notification to remind them to update their mood during the day. On the deployment side of things, we wanted to set up beta testing distribution for both iOS and Android user because we plan on testing Good Vibes with some students at Hendrix.
